50 Senior Police Officers on 1-Wk Training at FBI Field Office in US

In an effort to further enhance the knowledge and capacity of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and to make public safety services in the country comparable with the best of Asia and the rest of the world, 50 senior officers taking up the Public Safety Officers Senior Executive Course (OSEC) at the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) left over the weekend for a one-week training at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) field office in Los Angeles, California, USA.
Dr. Rosita Evangelista, PPSC president, said the student officers, including 41 police superintendents (equivalent to the rank of colonel) and nine police chief inspectors (major) assigned in different PNP units in the country, will undergo training on counter-terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, post blast investigation, hostage negotiation, crisis management, and other related international police issues and concerns.
The student-officers left on Saturday accompanied by Dr. Eugenio Cruz Jr., National Police College (NPC) officer-in-charge who also heads the delegation; Supt. Juan Datugan, training staff, Aviation Security Group (ASG); PO3 Visitacion Pabunan, course coordinator, PSOSEC Class 532004; Renato Serna, NPC training staff; Pacifico Talplacido, chief of the NPC plans and research department; Insp. Julie Cabrera, training staff, ASG; PO2 Ruby Hidalgo, training staff, ASG; Senior Supt. Balligi Ab Tira, Supt. Joven Brizuela, Supt. Rodelio Jocson, and Norman Andaca of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA). Members of the delegation were welcomed by FBI agents at the Los Angeles airport.
The said student-officers, along with the NPC officials and staff, were granted authority to travel by the Office of the President pursuant to Executive Order No. 298 to undertake educational tour of the facilities of the FBI field office in Los Angeles, California at no cost to the government. …
