Hidden [pounds sterling]12.5m portrait of Omai to go on show at Tate No spoof, Casino Royale will be the next Bond film THE hidden [pounds sterling]12.5 million portrait by Sir Joshua Reynolds of Omai is to go on show at Tate Britain in May in an exhibition of his work. One of Reynolds's finest paintings, it portrays the young Tahitian brought to England by Captain Cook. The work has been at the centre of an impasse since it was sold at auction for [pounds sterling]10.3 million to a foreign collector. But its export was blocked and it has been kept out of the public eye.

The 21st 007 film is Ian Fleming's first Bond novel, published in 1953.
Rights to the book - basis of the 1967 spoof movie starring David Niven, Peter Sellers and Woody Allen - belong not to Cubby Broccoli but MGM, which plans to bring out its all-action version next year. Pierce Brosnan's successor as Bond is not yet cast.
