North High senior wins performing arts honor

Ashley Thies, daughter of Linda and Roger Thies, has been named the Performing Arts Student of the Month for February by the Support Hultcenter Operations.

Thies is a senior at North Eugene High School. She plays the bassoon and saxophone and performs with the school pit orchestra and jazz combo and woodwind quartet.

Last year, she performed in San Francisco and at the Western Oregon University Jazz Festival.

SHO makes the monthly award to recognize and encourage participation in music, drama and dance in Lane County high schools.
