Dist. 158 Unveils New Map Lines Divide the District's Students among Eight Elementary, Middle Schools

Before too long, students in Huntley School District 158 will know exactly where they're headed when they board their school bus this fall.
District officials on Wednesday formally unveiled a proposed new boundary map, which divvies up the more than 6,400 students into the district's eight schools - including two new middle schools and two new elementary schools that will open this fall.
Despite a few criticisms raised by a few of the roughly 30 residents in attendance, officials aren't likely to change the new boundary map much - if at all - before board members vote on it at their March 17 meeting.
"We have run all of the scenarios," said Mike Kortemeyer, the district's assistant superintendent of administrative services. "If you move something, something else has to move back for the balance."
That's particularly true at the middle school level because the two new middle schools will be at capacity when they open this fall, Kortemeyer said.
"We are already planning how to build additions to our middle schools," Kortemeyer said. …
