SMITTEN Tom Cruise has spoken about new love Katie Holmes, calling her "an extraordinary woman" - but laughed off suggestions they are going to marry.
He opened up about his new romance during a trip to Rome with the Dawson's Creek beauty.
But he looked embarrassed when a reporter read out an extract from a magazine interview before they became Hollywood's hottest item, in which Katie, 26, had said: "I think every little girl dreams about her wedding. I used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise."
The Jerry Maguire star looked stunned and laughed, before looking lovingly at Katie and saying: "I don't want to disappoint her." US TV show Extra host Jon Kelley then asked Katie for a comment on the article, but Tom jumped in saying: "No, no, I don't want to embarrass her."
The 42-year-old, in Rome to pick up a special movie award last night, had earlier said: "Do you see my smile. She's an extraordinary woman. It's beautiful. I feel really happy. I'm more than enamoured."
Asked what the couple planned to do for the next couple of days, the megastar - who is divorced from Nicole Kidman - added: "We're going to hang. …
