Here are the finalists who will contest the Excellence in Marketing Award at next week's Western Mail Business Awards for Wales. The finalists in the category, sponsored by the Welsh Development Agency, are Cardiff-based brewery SA Brain & Co, Bangor-based specialist power chair and scooter manufacturer Prestige Mobility, and River Wye protection charity theWye and Usk Foundation.

Marketing director for the agency Gareth John said, 'The WDA is pleased to sponsor the Excellence in Marketing Award again this year. The Western Mail Business Awards for Wales in general make a valuable contribution to the creation of a business culture in Wales, which recognises and rewards outstanding performance.

'They set a benchmark against which all businesses in Wales can measure themselves.

'The Excellence in Marketing Award in particular has an important role to play.

'In the past, some enterprises in Wales have failed to give due priority to the disciplines of marketing - which is an increasingly vital component of business survival and success.

'The truly impressive standard of entries for this year's award demonstrated that and more and more Welsh businesses now strive to excel in their customer focus.'

In all, 12 categories will be contested in the Western Mail Business Awards for Wales, in association with Elwa, which will be staged at Cardiff International Arena next Friday.: Prestige Mobility:Company Name: Prestige Mobility Ltd (provider of electrically powered mobility scooters and power chairs. Location: Bangor Turnover/profits: pounds 6.9m turnover. Profit before tax pounds 150,000 (2003-04 provisional).
