BARELY-THERE dresses of strung together chains, striped stovepipe hats, intricate origami pleats and lace-up tan leather harnesses - yes, you've guessed it's another student fashion show.
At a packed catwalk show, postgraduates at the London College of Fashion showed all the creative flair and technical know-how that makes British-trained fashion students the most sought-after in the world, with one important difference - great timing.
Whereas most students have to wait until Graduate Fashion Week in June to show what they are made of, and with fellow postgraduates at Central St Martins having to wait until next month to strut their stuff, that clever bunch at the college just off Oxford Street can say that they got there first.
With over a thousand graduates chasing only a handful of jobs each year, stealing a march on your contemporaries seems pretty sensible. Showing to an audience of industry insiders, including Jimmy Choo, Zandra Rhodes and Jacques Azagury, 15 MA students displayed a dazzling variety of styles.
Rishti Diwan sent out stunning dresses pieced together from silver chains while Sanghee Chun created botanical floral prints, pleating and knotting them into a wealth of precious pieces. …
