A Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
ONE of the undertakings of the United Nations is to advocate for peace and justice and to care for people and communities. It is joined by the World Council of Churches (WCC) which contributed greatly to the content and spirit of the United Nations and facilitated the involvement of churches in international affairs.
The attention of the WCC is focused on the promotion of peace with justice and freedom, human rights, the development of international laws, the international control and reduction of arms, and the furtherance of economic justice. One of its yearly activities is a week of prayer which will be held this year on January 1825.
The theme for this yearas Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is "Where Two or Three Are Gathered Together, I Am There Among Them.aa During the week, local churches are encouraged to adapt Biblical reflections and prayers that are relevant to the situation in the country.
