Cohen: I Can Help England Get to Grips with Lamont; the Winger Hopes to Stop Rising Scotland Star Sean Lamont at Murrayfield This Weekend by Using Inside Knowledge of His Club-Mate

Byline: CHRIS JONES

BEN COHEN knows all about the threat Scotland winger Sean Lamont poses to England and he hopes his inside knowledge will help his team-mates on Saturday.

Cohen was delighted when his club-mate Lamont ran in four tries for Northampton during the 58-17 destruction of woeful Saracens last weekend but the England winger is hoping his friend has a blank day at Murrayfield.

Lamont has already showed his class in this season's RBS Six Nations, scoring two tries in Scotland's momentous 20-16 victory over France.

Cohen said: "Sean is a great player and I rate him highly. He is already a world-class player and is getting better and better. There is no doubt that coming south of the border this season has helped him improve his game because the Guinness Premiership is a very tough league.

"It would be good to be up against Sean on Saturday but he is also a left wing. However, I am sure we will bump into each other at some point of the match.

"When you are training and playing with a guy week in, week out, you get an idea of strengths and weaknesses and I am sure that is the same for Sean when he looks at my game.

"At Test level, we all do our own individual analysis about our opposite number and Mark [Cueto] will be doing that on Sean this week."

Cohen was given a break after 65 minutes against Sarries which meant Lamont, 25, stayed on for the full match, prompting questions to Northampton coach Paul Grayson - the ex-England outside-half - about favouring his countrymen ahead of the Calcutta Cup match.

Cohen said: "That was Paul's call and I didn't have anything to do with it. …
