Face to Face with AIDS, a videotape in a soap opera format, has been created by the Novela Health Foundation to answer the need for AIDS prevention education among Latino youth. The program explores common misconceptions about AIDS through the experience of a Latino family. Available on 1/2- or 3/4-inch videocassette, the program is accompanied by a fotonovella handout (in English or Spanish) for students and a teacher's guide. Meridian Education Corporation, 236 E. Front St., Bloomington, IL 61701; 309/827-5455, has introduced AIDS: Questions with Answers, a videotape that presents the many questions young people have about AIDS. Focus group interviews with teen-agers helped the authors discover the concerns, attitudes toward, and misconceptions teen-agers have about AIDS. The program costs $89 for VHS or Beta, and $99 for 3/4-inch Umatic. An instructor's guide also is available.
The International Society for AIDS Education publishes AIDS Education and Prevention, an interdisciplinary journal committed to providing professionals with the latest information on existing and theoretical models of AIDS education and prevention including their development, implementation, and evaluation.
