THE WIZARD OF THE OOD! the Unheralded Acts That Robyn Archer Lined Up

AUSTRALIAN Robyn Archer was set to fly in artists from her homeland to fill programmes during Capital of Culture year. Theatre, dance and music organisations were expecting to travel 12,000 miles from Australia to Liverpool during 2008.
Acts lined up by Ms Archer included the Australian Dance Theatre, based in her home city of Adelaide, and opera and choral works by Australian composer Richard Mills. The ECHO understands she was also keen to bring an Australian circus across.
It means audiences are now unlikely to experience Mills' shipwreck opera Batavia or his new large-scale choral work La Storia di San Marco.
Brisbane contemporary music ensemble Elision WILL perform with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra's Ensemble 10/10 in Liverpool this November after being announced several months ago.
But other acts could be quickly shelved, as Ms Archer's plans are given a massive overhaul, to be replaced with more familiar artists.
Elision's artistic director, Daryl Buckley, told The Australian newspaper payments had already been made to Welsh composer Richard Barrett for Construction, a new work Elision was expecting to present at Liverpool for Capital of Culture.
That could now be in doubt.
