WILL MANNY Pacquiao jump ship to Top Rank?
Headed by the influential boxing figure Bob Arum, Pacquiao could be Top Rank's latest prized-recruit.
Reports from the US said that Pacquiao is likely to severe his ties with his American handlers led by Shelly Finkel after his contract with them expires at the end of January 2007.
Lead boxing writer Dan Rafael of ESPN.com reported over the weekend that after the expiration of Pacquiao's contract, Cebu boxing promoter Wakee Salud will "deliver" Pacquiao to the management of Top Rank so he could get a more lucrative contract in the event he hurdles Mexican Erik Morales in their rubber match on Nov. 18.
Salud is one of Pacquiao's closest confidants who accompanies him whenever the boxer goes out of the country.
There seems to be no problem once Pacquiao decides to terminate the contract since Finkel, according to Rafael, is willing to let go of Pacquiao after getting their share from Pacquiao's megabuck purse. Pacquiao is guaranteed a paycheck of $ 3 million plus a share of the pay-per-view sales.
Lawyers Nick Khan and Keith Davidson also form the US management team of Pacquiao, who broke off with New Jersey promoter Murad Muhammad with the help of Finkel, Khan and Davidson. …
