Obesity Prevention, Awareness Week On

The Philippine Association for the Study of Overweight and Obesity (PASOO) will lead today the kick-off ceremonies for the annual observance of Obesity Prevention and Awareness Week (OPAW) with a fitness walk from 6 a.m.-9 a.m. at the Pasay City Promenade by the Baywalk behind the Mall of Asia.
The public is invited to join the event which aims to highlight the many health benefits of physical activity as well as increase public awareness "that one does not need to go to the gym or engage in special sports to be physically active."
"Walk anywhere, anytime but walk while you can and walk regularly," said Sanirose S. Orbeta, PASOO vice president and chairman of "Fitness Walk 2006." The theme for the fitness walk is "6-Minute Challenge -- Fit Ka Ba?"
Participants will have the chance to determine their fitness level through a six-minute walk test to be conducted by experts.
