OK, THIS is getting serious now folks.
The deadline for nominations for the inaugural Culture Awards is less than a week away, so if you haven't thrown your ideas of who should win what into the mix yet, then you'd better get your skates on.
Organised to recognise and celebrate the achievements of arts and cultural organisations, projects and individuals in the North-East, the ceremony will take place at Northern Stage, Newcastle, on March 26, 2007.
Awards will be given in categories including Best Event (in Northumberland, Tyneside, Sunderland, Durham and Tees Valley), Best Performance, Newcomer of the Year and Artist of the Year.
Over the past few weeks, we have been focusing on each of the 13 award categories... and today sees the final piece in the category jigsaw.
Sponsored by Tyne and Wear Museums, the Renaissance in the Region award will recognise the contribution made by one of the region's museums or galleries in engaging its local community.
Alec Coles, director of Tyne & Wear Museums, said: "The Journal's Culture Club and magazine have really made culture centre stage in our region. The North-East continues to lead the way in providing popular, accessible and innovative facilities for the experience of heritage, art and sport.
