Bush Congratulates GMA on Campaign against Abu Sayyaf

United States President George W. Bush has conveyed his congratulations to President Arroyo for the military's string of successes in the campaign against the Abu Sayyaf.
Visiting US State Department Undersecretary Karen Hughes told Mrs. Arroyo that Bush is "enormously grateful" for the killing of two of the Abu Sayyaf's top leaders in separate raids by the military in Mindanao recently.
"The message is one of gratitude for the professionalism, bravery and dedication of these soldiers who are in the frontline in the war against terror," Hughes said during a victory party hosted by Mrs. Arroyo in Malacanang on Wednesday night to honor the troops fighting the Abu Sayyaf in Mindanao.
Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said Bush is expected to meet with Mrs. Arroyo during the ongoing World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland to personally congratulate her for the killing of Abu Sayyaf leader Khadaffy Janjalani and his deputy Abu Solaiman recently.
"The Americans are so concerned about these two persons, especially Janjalani because he is reputed to be a very high- ranking terrorist here in Southeast Asia," Ermita said. …
