R & R; Pinoy Cuisine Twisted

Chicago-based chef Ron Bilaro is one of the most soughtafter personal chefs in Chicago, with some of the city's top corporate families numbering among his clients and is the first Filipino to be invited to write for the Home & Garden section of the highly esteemed broadsheet, The Chicago Tribune.
He was given the Golden Reflections Award for Excellence in Culinary Arts at the Reflections XVII Award Show.
The Reflections Awards is an annual awards show which recognizes major achievements, not only for the FilipinoAmerican communities in Los Angeles, but as well as those individuals or organizations that have had an impact on uplifting the AsianAmerican society in the United States.
Other recipients of the coveted Golden Reflections Awards include Lea Salonga, Lou Diamond Phillips, Billy Crawford, and Apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas.
In development is a recipe/entertainment book, with the working title of, what else, "Pinoy Cuisine Twisted," and a soon-to-belaunched U.S. cooking and lifestyle television show, "In Style with Ron Bilaro."

UPDATE ON AMY BESA and the book, "MEMORIES OF PHILIPPINE KITCHENS: Stories and Recipes from Far and Near". As mentioned in my April 13 column, Amy Besa and Romy Dorotan's book was listed as a Finalist in the IACP Cookbook Awards, Julia Child First Book Award category.
As it turned out, the book did not win in its category. Instead, the book won the more prestigious award, the Jane Grigson Award for Distinguished Scholarship and the Quality of its Research and Presentation.
Winning the award is a tremendous achievement as it is not given out every year and is issued only when the judges feel that there is a worthy recipient. There have been many years when no winner was announced.
