Energy Security Task Force Formed
President Arroyo has created a task force under the Department of Energy (DOE) whose role is to ensure the security of all power related facilities and infrastructures in the country.
In issuing Executive Order No. 655, the President also tasked the task force to be headed by Energy Secretary Angelo T. Reyes with the authority to ensure the enforcement of the country's laws relating to energy.
The task force, to be known as the Presidential Task Force on the Security of Energy Facilities and Enforcement of Energy Laws and Standards (PTF-SEFEELS), is also tasked to formulate a comprehensive national plan for the security and protection of energy facilities.
It will also be responsible for coordinating the implementation of the said plan.
The PTF-SEFEELS will absorb the personnel and assets of the National Anti-Environment Crime Task Force (NAECTAF), which AO 655 deactivated.
The executive order enjoined all government departments, agencies, offices and instrumentalities, including government owned or controlled corporations, to provide support, assistance and resources to the new task force.
The task force shall initially source its operational funds from the unprogrammed funds of the DOE. …
