Capiz Readies Anti-Pest Sentries
Byline: DANNY FAJARDO
ROXAS City -Still free from the presence of the now dreadful coconut leaf beetle pest, the province's chief executive has ordered the establishment of anti-beetle quarantine sentries at all provincial road boundaries and ports of entry.
Governor Victor Tanco specifically directed Supt. Roberto Villanueva, Capiz police director, to have the quarantine sentinels set up immediately and make sure not a single beetle passes through any of the check points.
Villanueva then instructed concerned police station commanders to coordinate with the proper authorities in the capital city's airport, seaports, and all other entry or access roads to implement the governor's directive.
Police shall be tasked with the direct implementation of anti-beetle quarantine measures and to enforce all possible laws, ordinances, and other measures as may be allowed by existing laws, jurisprudence, and administrative rules and regulations.
Villanueva also coordinated with the Provincial Quarantine Officer of the Bureau of Plant Industry and the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) to ensure proper observance and implementation quarantine procedures by troops who will be guarding the anti-coconut leaf beetle pest check points. …
