DUDDY SET FOR NEW YEAR SHOT AT PAVLIK; Duddy: Possible Title Shot

JOHN DUDDY could be set for a dream start to 2008 with a shot at worldmiddleweight champion Kelly Pavlik. There had been speculation that theunbeaten Derry middleweight could challenge for Pavlik's WBC and WBO titles inMarch but discussions are now under way for that fight to take place on January26 in Atlantic City.

The New York-based Duddy is currently in Dublin applying the finishing touchesto his preparations for this Saturday's bout with late substitute Prince Arronat the National Stadium.

If victorious this weekend, a title fight with Pavlik would generate a sevenfigure purse for the 28-year-old. Pavlik's trainer Jack Loew has alreadywritten off Duddy's chances claiming: 'I don't think Duddy is up to Kelly'slevel right now but we're going to train as hard as we can. 'I don't know ifit's going to be a long or a quick evening for Duddy, but either way it's notin his favour. We want to hang on to this championship for a while.'

Duddy's promoter Eddie McLoughlin is refusing to rule out the possibility of about in Belfast on December 8, claiming that they will not be rushed into aworld title fight. …
