HALLE BERRY'S latest role as a mother convinced her she is ready for the birth of her first child.
The Hollywood star told the Sunday Mail of her joy at her baby news - and revealed she is more nervous about it than she was on the night of her emotional Oscar-winner's speech.
The 41-year-old worked with child actors Micah Berry, nine, and 11-year-old Alexis Llewellyn in Things We Lost In The Fire.
Halle said: "I realised in this movie that I really had a solid maternal instinct and it was only days before the children and I had a connection that felt real.
"Being with the kids was a joy, one of the highlights of my day. In the morning they ran up and hugged me."
Halle is due to give birth in March to her baby with boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.
She has had practice being a parent as stepmum to India, 16, the daughter of her former husband, singer Eric Benet.
In Things We Lost In The Fire, Halle plays the mother of two young children in a family hit by tragedy.
Their dad (played by David Duchovny) is killed and the distraught mum turns to his best friend (Benicio Del Toro) who is a down-and-out drug addict.
Canadian Micah plays Halle's son Dory and she was not surprised people thought they were related.
Halle, who blubbed after winning the 2002 best actress Oscar for Monster's Ball, said: "We are not related. …
