Sponsors Help Shine a Light on Unsung Heroes; ++ COMMUNITY AWARDS ++

ONCE again the search is on for local heroes in the Coventry Telegraph Pride of Coventry and Warwickshire Community Awards - and again they are being backed by companies and organisations across the region.

The awards are being held on October 17 at Stoneleigh Park.

This year there are seven categories and you can enter by picking up a form at the Telegraph offices or any branch of Coventry Building Society; or log on to our website www.coventrytelegraph.net and follow the link.

OUR SPONSORS are delighted to be backing the Coventry Telegraph Pride of Coventry and Warwickshire Community Awards.

Massey Ferguson is sponsoring the Caring Hero category in this year's awards, alongside AXA.

Paul Lay, the company's head of public relations, said: "It is a particular honour to continue to sponsor the Caring Hero category which clearly demonstrates the incredible selfless dedication and commitment of those nominated."

Warwick University is again teaming up with Jaguar to sponsor the Local Hero category.

Trevor Seeley, community relations manager at the university, said: "We are especially pleased to sponsor this award because it helps to shine the light on those unsung people in our local community who continually put others first but rarely receive the acknowledgement they deserve."

Les Ratcliffe, community relations and public affairs manager at Jaguar Cars and Land Rover, said: "Individual recognition of community excellence is a reward that should be highlighted to the wider community".

The Community Project of the Year award, sponsored jointly by PSA Peugeot Citroen and the Heart of England Community Foundation, will go to a project which has benefited the community.

Kate Mulkern, from the Heart of England Community Foundation, said: "Along with our co-sponsor Peugeot, we are delighted to be associated with the Community Project of the Year award, as it is a wonderful celebration of the fantastic work done by local people in making Coventry and Warwickshire a better place to live."

Coventry City Council is sponsoring the Public Sector Hero category.

Council leader Ken Taylor, said: "The Public Sector Hero award is for those who are dedicated to their job of work - but do not stop there. …
