US Energizes ARMM Areas with Renewable Energy Sources
KIDAPAWAN CITY - United States Ambassador to the Philippines Kristie Kenny has assured residents in Mindanao of her government's continued support to the energization of poor conflict-affected villages in the island, especially in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).True enough, Kenny said during the Lailatul Qadr (Arabic terms which means, Night of Power) that the US government, through the Alliance for Mindanao Off-grid Renewable Energy (AMORE) program, has energized at least 400 villages in ARMM since the project started six years ago.
"As light brings us blessings and hope during the Lailatul Qadr, the American people will continue to work with you, to bring light to even more remote communities, and to promote peace and development," said Kenney.
Kenny has recognized the difficult times the Filipinos, especially those residing in conflict areas in Mindanao, have gone through especially when the wars between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) broke out last month.
"But as we look at them, let us look at the light and at the hope that we bring, at the joy we can bring to families, at the difference we can make in lives, at the way we can work together," she said. …
