LEXIS-NEXIS's New Online Databases and News Sources


LEXIS-NEXIS has announced the release of Mergerstat, an online mergers-and-acquisitions database; The Journal of Commerce and several other online business news sources; 23 additional publications to its collection of Institutional Investor, Inc. publications online, and the LEXIS-NEXIS Sales Suite.

Mergerstat

The Mergerstat mergers-and-acquisitions database is now online on the LEXIS-NEXIS services. Strategic-planning, business-development, and competitive-intelligence professionals, as well as attorneys, can now easily find the terms of deals in one place. For more than 30 years, Mergerstat has provided detailed information on publicly announced mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. It tracks U.S. transactions and cross-border transactions involving U.S. parent companies where the equity value is greater than $1 million and represents at least a 10 percent interest.

For each transaction, Mergerstat researches over 200 fields of information on the buyer and seller, including parent name, address, product line, business description, SIC codes, synopsis, and (where available) pricing and terms, seller financials, and the name and role of the financial advisor, legal advisor, and accountant. Mergerstat is located in the COMPNY and M&A libraries on the LEXIS-NEXIS services under the file name: MSTAT. The Mergerstat file is updated online on a weekly basis.

The Journal of Commerce

and Associated Publications

The Journal of Commerce, a business newspaper covering international transportation and trade industries, is now available online and, according to the company, has been considered the bible of global and domestic commerce, trade, and transportation information since 1827. Professionals in corporate legal and finance departments, politics, government, and international business can now access not only The Journal of Commerce, but all of The Journal of Commerce publications online.

These include Air Commerce, a monthly supplement covering air freight; Traffic World, a weekly magazine highlighting issues in the transportation try, and Air Cargo World, a monthly magazine devoted entirely to the air-cargo industry. Together The Journal of Commerce publications cover ocean, barge, air, truck, and rail freight transportation; international trade;the insurance industry; banking; commodities markets; chemicals, and energy. The publications are located in the NEWS, WORLD, TRANS, MARKET, EXEC, LEGIS, TRADE, ENERGY, and LABOR libraries. libraries.
