Avon Cosmetics Gears Up for Bullish Sales amid Gloom
Avon Cosmetics Inc., the country's number one direct selling firm for cosmetics and intimate apparel, is gearing up for a more bullish performance this year saying that hard times are the best impetus for growth in the beauty industry.
Bob Briddon, president and general manager of Avon Philippines, has enumerated the world's past economic crisis starting from the Great Depression in 1929 down to the 1997 Asian financial crisis and concluded that Avon performed better during those crunch times.
"Avon does well during crunch times so we have to seize this opportunity," he said.
For this year, Briddon said the company expects more than 10 percent increase in sales over last year's $ 340 million sales.
"It is because Avon can be the answer," Briddon told a group of media people where they also presented three top sales leaders, whose lives have been dramatically transformed from being lowly employees to becoming bosses of their respective million peso Avon businesses in just a period of three to five years from the time they became Avon ladies. The top three Avon ladies are Mary Gail Ouano-Villafana of Avon Cebu, Gebelyn Balajonda of Cabanatuan and Maritess Lim of Pateros. …
