Organ Music and Candlelight for a Chiller in the Church

INNOVATIVE organist David Briggs is returning to Warwickshire to bring another spine-tingling movie to life with music.
He will perform an improvised accompaniment to the original blackand-white film of The Hunchback Of Notre Dame in the candlelit atmosphere of St Mary's Church, Warwick, on Tuesday. It follows the success of a similar event featuring the Phantom Of The Opera two years ago.
David, who was born in Solihull, has built a reputation as an exciting performer with particular emphasis on orchestral transcriptions and improvisation.
He is increasingly in demand for his improvisations of silent film scores and gives nearly 50 concerts a year.

ACONCERT given by Coventry's Tony Gibbs Singers raised pounds 340 towards a musical challenge earlier this month.
The concert was held at Warwick Road United Reformed Church, Coventry, and the money will go towards a project, led by church organist Tim Campain, to restore a Wurlitzer organ - which was once in the former Savoy Cinema in Coventry - and install it in the church.
The church is a popular music venue and is hosting its next concert at 1.10pm on Tuesday, when Laurence Caldecote, organ scholar at St Nicolas Church, Nuneaton, will be giving a piano recital which will include one of his own compositions. …
