Good Corporate Citizen Noted

THE Rock Building Society has won recognition for its commitment to the community at the 2009 Rockhampton Regional Development and Ergon Energy Business Excellence Awards.
The Rock was awarded the CQUniversity Australia Community Contribution of the Year Award which recognises organisations which put good corporate citizenship into practice, demonstrating environmental and social responsibility in the communities in which they live and operate.
The Rock was also a nominee in the Stanwell Major Business of the Year and the AusIndustry Innovative Business of the Year categories.
The Rock's managing director, Derek Lightfoot, said the staff and management were thrilled to receive public recognition for their hard work in the community.
"We are delighted and honoured to win the Community Contribution of the Year Award, particularly being a financial institution," Mr Lightfoot said.
"It really demonstrates how, as a regionally born and bred building society, The Rock continues to be truly committed to supporting the communities in which we live and do business in a very tangible way, particularly in our Central Queensland heartland.
"Through our Community Support Program, The Rock actively provides sponsorships and donations to individuals, groups and events whether that be school initiatives like the Glenmore State High School Dragons cheer squad and the Parkhurst State Primary School academic awards, or major community events such as Beef 2009 and the Cancer Champions Awards. …
