Mixed Results, but Many Improve

Northeast Florida schools followed the state trend with mixed results in math and reading, though high schools saw mostly improvements. Locally and statewide, elementary school grade levels dropped slightly. Science and writing scores were up, but the tests had changes in either testing format or scoring.

Science is tested only in fifth, eighth and 11th grades. -- Reading and math are not tested in 11th grade. -- Third-grade scores were released in May.

BAKER

Fifth, sixth, seventh, ninth, 10th grades improve

Third, fourth and eighth grades drop slightly

- No major swings, but Baker County Middle's seventh graders showed the most improvement in the percent of students at grade level.

MATH

Most grades make improvements, but third, fifth and eighth drop slightly

- Westside Elementary's third graders dropped the most, but it was still slight and the county's fourth-, ninth- and 10th-graders tied for the best improvement.

SCIENCE

Fifth and 11th grades improve

Eighth grade dips slightly

- Baker County Middle decreased 4 percentage points.

- Macclenny Elementary rose by 6 points and Baker County high increased 7 points.
