Soap's New Transgender Teen Story; Hollyoaks Tackles Gender Identity Disorder

HOLLYOAKS is set for a new storyline about a boy trapped in a girl's body.
The plot will follow the arrival of teenage transgender character Jasmine Costello.
It will chart her transition towards becoming her male alter ego Jason, coming out to friends and family, and taking hormone-blocking treatment.
Actress Victoria Atkin, 23, is taking on her first TV role to play Jasmine who faces the difficulty of living with Gender Identity Disorder (GID) also known as Gender Dysphoria.
Viewers will see Jasmine arrive in the show after spending some time at a summer camp in the US.
But it soon emerges she dresses as the opposite sex in secret.
The story will follow her journey of self-discovery and explore the effects her double life has on those around her, including her ex-model mum Heidi (Kim Tiddy) and ex-footballer dad Carl (Paul Opacic).
