Interactive Expo a Motivation Success
THEY came to whirl hoola-hoops, toss juggling balls, ride bikes together, watch animated politicians, and taste organic baked delights at the first interactive expo run by Coffs Harbour Employment Support Services.
"We got our message out, which is that we are a community organisation, representing the community and aimed at supporting disadvantaged job seekers in our community," CHESS general manager John Mandile said.
"Most who came didn't know the extent of our activities so it broadened the CHESS profile.
"We'd have like to have seen more employers at the expo but we were quite happy with it."
Visual Noise, an interactive exhibition of music, pottery, artwork and human movement programs offered by CHESS, demonstrated with hoola hoops and juggling, attracted a lot of attention during the CHESS Interactive Expo on Thursday and Friday at Coffs Harbour Showgrounds.
CHESS programs include the community bike recycling centre, Coffs Harbour Men's Shed, their market gardens and innovation farm, computer refurbishing program, tailored employment services and addiction recovery training. …
