Conference Takes Video Games Industry to New Dimension

DELEGATES will have to don 3-D glasses to make the most of a video gaming conference that is returning to Liverpool next month.
The second annual Develop conference will be held in the Hilton Hotel - but delegates will move to the Odeon cinema in Liverpool One for the keynote speech by Sony Computer Entertainment's senior director Mick Hocking.
His speech on Sony's work developing 3-D games will include a presentation in high-definition 3-D on how the technology "has changed the visual language of the screen".
Merseyside and Cheshire are leading centres for the video games industry thanks to the success of companies such as Sony, which employs hundreds in Wavertree and Runcorn, and Speke's Bizarre Creations.
The first Develop in Liverpool event - a spin-off of the annual Develop conference in Brighton - attracted 200 people to the city last year.
This year's event will be held on Thursday, November 25.
It is a sister event to hi-tech showcase Liverpool Software City, which will be held on the same day.
Mr Hocking said: "I'm really excited about being able to give this keynote, as I'll be taking the delegates through a selection of the latest stunning 3-D games in full HD 3-D. "I'll also be sharing some of the unique tricks and techniques required to create a top-quality 3-D gaming experience. …
