CQUniversity in collaboration with Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden has launched a new research initiative in the application of hybrid electric systems for heavy machinery and transportation in resource industries. It is believed that this move will bring benefits, not only for industries and organisations in Central Queensland, but also throughout Australia.
CQUniversity will conduct a symposium on hybrid electric systems for heavy machinery, where resource experts from CQUniversity, Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden along with industry experts will inform participants on hybrid electric technology and its potential for application in heavy machinery.
This technology will not only reduce operational costs but also position industries to comply with several regulatory measures and initiatives such as Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, National Greenhouse and Energy Register and Renewable Energy Target which aim to reduce the carbon footprint of industries in Australia.
