Homebuyer fair planned:
A free, community-based homebuyer fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 26 at Community High School, 326 Joliet St., West Chicago. The fair will include workshops on several homebuyer programs, the importance of credit in obtaining a mortgage and how to be a successful homebuyer in today's market. The fair, sponsored by the city of West Chicago in partnership with the DuPage Homeownership Center and IHDA, will also highlight the benefits of living in West Chicago. It's "a great way to educate people about the responsibilities and rewards of buying a home," Mayor Mike Kwasman said. "I also think this is a tremendous way to showcase all that West Chicago has to offer to those considering investment in a quality community."
Art League extends deadline:
The Naperville Art League is extending the deadline for this year's seventh annual Public Art Competition, "Shattered," to 4 p.m. March 5. Adults and children can submit pieces interpreting the theme in virtually any media. Awards will be given, with $350 for Best of Show and $100 for First Place awards in three categories: children in kindergarten through eighth grade; high school and college students; and adults. …
