President Benigno S. Aquino III State Visits to Indonesia on March 7-8, 2011 and Singapore on March 9-11, 2011
MANILA, Philippines - PRESIDENT Benigno S. Aquino III is leaving for a four-day state visit to Indonesia on March 7-8, 2011 and Singapore on March 9-11, 201. The visits will be the President's 4th and 5th trips to foreign countries since he assumed the presidency on June 30, 2010.
The Philippines, Indonesia, and Singapore are among the Founding Fathers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), a regional grouping established on August 8, 1967, in Bangkok, Thailand. Forty-four years later, the three countries continue to maintain dynamic diplomatic and economic relations. They are signatories to ASEAN Vision 2020, looking at Southeast Asian nations bonding together in partnership in development and in a community of caring societies.
In Indonesia, President Aquino will hold talks with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and in Singapore with President Sellapan Ramanathan (S.R. Nathan) and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. The Chief Executive is expected to discuss in his meetings with the leaders the strengthening of bilateral ties, the welfare and protection of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), and greater exchange of goods and services. …
