Salvador Dali Etching Comes Up for Sale in Wales
IT IS a rare and unique painting once owned by the mother of actress Uma Thurman.
Now, Salvador Dali's Sacred Cow is to go on sale in a little known gallery in South Wales.
The painting is a hand-coloured etching by the internationally-famous artist and will feature in the Welsh Art Auction in the Oriel Washington Gallery in Penarth.
Auction co-ordinator Marc Evans said: "It is incredibly exciting to have a piece such as this in Wales. We usually host more established British artists. I've never seen anything of this standard come to this area."
The piece, dated 1969, is a signed etching, which was printed from a plate and then painted by hand.
Mr Evans said he expects the painting to reach up to pounds 20,000, which he described as "comparatively cheap".
"Dali originals usually reach millions of pounds, so this price range is comparatively cheap in the scheme of things," he said.
"It's a fantastic opportunity for art collectors in the area. …
