Coos Art Museum to host exhibit about motorcycles
COOS BAY - The Coos Art Museum exhibit "Thunder at CAM: An Exhibition of Motorcycles and Motorcycle Art" will open with a reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.
The exhibit will run through July 23.
Among the vehicles on display will be a 1924 Ner-A-Car on loan from the Southern Oregon Historical Society.
Not really a motorcycle, the curious vehicle was designed to address an issue as current as today's news - the high cost of personal transportation. It was advertised in its own day as "cheaper than shoe leather."
The exhibit also includes dozens of classic motorcycles, 62 pieces of motorcycle-themed art and numerous motorcycle related artifacts.
Admission will be charged to nonmuseum members at the opening. Museum admission is $5, $2 students and seniors. Coos Art Museum's regular hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The museum is at 235 Anderson Ave.
