Ninth Development Policy Research Month
MANILA, Philippines - Development Policy Research Month (DPRM) in September is celebrated this year with the theme "Back to ABC: Education Development."
]Leading the celebration is the Philippine Institute of Development Studies (PIDS). The activities undertaken during the month include: Dialogues/consultations on certain policy issues, holding of press conferences, a round in radio and television programs to disseminate various research initiatives undertaken on education, and school talks on the important role of research in policy making and planning.
Development policy research provides valuable inputs to policy makers and planners as well as to the general public on relevant issues. It equips them with the data and information necessary to review policies and formulate new legislation, assess current approaches, and map out new strategies.
It is hoped that with its extensive venues for discussion nationwide, the various studies and activities that will be presented and organized during the month-long celebration will help evaluate where the country is now in the area of education and address the urgent need to prepare our current batch of students for jobs that will be in demand when they graduate from college several years from now. …
