H'mm, a Project That Aims to Get Poets and Poetry into the Workplace
BUSINESSES are being encouraged to "adopt a poet" as part of an initiative to raise the profile of poetry.
H'mm The Poetry Foundation will be officially launched at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff on December 7 when some of the country's top poets, including National Poet of Wales Gillian Clarke and Western Mail columnist Menna Elfyn, will read their work on the centre's Glanfa Stage.
There will also be performances from musicians such as Fflur Dafydd and Margot Morgan.
The project, launched in association with Media Wales, is the brainchild of businessman Ali Anwar, chief executive of the new foundation.
Despite the fact that Wales is responsible for some of the best writing in both Welsh and English, he says it's not always easy for members of the public to get access to contemporary poetry.
He hopes that H'mm will bridge the gap between poets and the public by showcasing poetry in the workplace.
The foundation has already secured the support of several well-known poets, in both languages. …
