IN a major boost to the Welsh financial and professional advisory sector, Deloitte is establishing a new risk management centre serving clients globally in Cardiff.

The centre will create 100 jobs by the end of next year at the Fusion Point office scheme - close to the centre of Cardiff and Deloitte Wales' headquarters in Callaghan Square. The risk operations centre of excellence will see a pounds 3m annual investment by the global professional advisory firm.

It will focus its risk management expertise, currently located in offices across the UK, in one centre - although it will not result in any job displacement.

The financial and professional advisory sector currently employs more than 124,000 people in Wales.

A quarter of the total workforce of Cardiff is employed in this sector.

Deloitte's new centre is located inside the Cardiff Business District, which has been given enterprise zone status - the only one of its kind for the financial and professional advisory sector in the UK - by the Welsh Government.

Deloitte's director of risk operations is Ross Flanigan from Penarth. He said: "This is fantastic news for both Deloitte and the local economy. We are continuing to grow our presence in the Welsh market to provide an unrivalled service.

"As a firm, we are not only creating employment, but, working with the Welsh Government, bringing new opportunities to Wales and enhancing the skill set of our future workforce.

"Deloitte is committed to further investment in our risk and compliance management processes to help provide an even better experience for our clients.

"This expansion follows Deloitte's move to our new Welsh offices last year, demonstrating how the firm is continuing to move from strength to strength and our long-term commitment to growing our presence as a major employer in the Welsh capital. …
