Heynckes hands out early cheer
ROBERTO MANCINI (right) sported a blue Santa hat in the match programme, but it was Jupp Heynckes who was dishing out the gifts by leaving Manuel Neuer, Franck Ribery, Philipp Lahm and both first-choice strikers Thomas Muller and Mario Gomez on the bench. Bayern had only three survivors from their starting line-up in Munich. Without 13-goal leading marksman Gomez, they looked predictably short of a cutting edge up front.
It's still a happy away day

Away fans are normally housed behind the goal, to the right of the main stand, but Bayern's were parked in the top tier on the far side, leaving City to fill the first two levels right round the ground and create a vibrant atmosphere.
