Dist. 15 holds budget forum:

Palatine Township Elementary District 15 will hold a budget information forum for community members from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Sundling Junior High, 1100 N. Smith St., Palatine. The focus will be on possible expenditure reductions for the 2012-13 school year. Participant feedback on solutions to the structural deficit also will be discussed. District 15 faces up to a $10 million deficit next year. A similar forum for staff will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. For more information, visit ccsd15.net.

Meetings on home rule vote:

Informational meetings about a referendum on whether Prospect Heights should become a home rule community begin this week. The first meeting will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at city hall, 8 N. Elmhurst Road. The second will be 1-3 p.m. March 3 at the Rob Roy Community clubhouse, 270 Country Club Drive. Leonard Digate, a member of the city's finance committee, said that after a short presentation, most of the time will be for questions. Several city officials will attend the first meeting. Senate candidates to speak:

Julie Morrison and Milton Sumption, 29th State Senate District candidates in the Democratic primary to replace retiring incumbent Susan Garrett, will speak to the Wheeling Township Democratic Organization at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 1310 W. Northwest Hwy, Arlington Heights. Topics include the 2012 campaigns and the state of the state. State Rep. Elaine Nekritz, who is running for re-election,also will appear.
