With fuel bills in Welsh households rising due to price hikes in the cost of fossil fuels such as oil and gas, there's no better time to make the switch to wood fuel. As one of Wales' richest home-grown resources, it's an all-round greener, more sustainable alternative.

When sourced locally and from a reputable supplier, wood can be one of the most reliable forms of renewable energy used to heat the home. And as a carbon neutral resource, wood is one of the most efficient forms of energy available today, especially when used in a modern wood burning stove or boiler.

For those eager to make the switch this winter, a Renewable Heat Premium Payment (RHPP) scheme helping homeowners to cover the installation cost of a biomass boiler could help make real savings.

Available until the end of March, one-off payments of pounds 950 can be secured from a pounds 15m UK Government fund available to householders.

As well as seeing financial gains, householders using wood fuel will see a reduction in their carbon footprint, meaning savings to the environment as well. …
