US Country Music Star Heads to Oz; Grammy Winner Announces Tour

AMERICAN country music darling Carrie Underwood will tour Australia for the first time this month.

The five-time Grammy Award winner announced the special four-date Australian leg of her world tour on .

Underwood said she was excited to finally play live shows in Australia after visiting for a promotional tour last year.

aI talked to a lot of great people and had a lot of fun there,a she said.

aIt's really nice to be able to go back and play shows.

aa[approximately]I've worked really hard here in the US and North American for the past seven years, and it seems only natural that I should branch out finally and take country music, and my country music, to a different place.a

The tour starts at Melbourne's Palais Theatre on June 26 and plays TRECC in Tamworth and the Brisbane Convention Centre before finishing at the Sydney Opera House on July 2 and 3.

aLast time we came to visit we were in Sydney and Melbourne and Brisbane, so those three obviously were easy choices to say a[approximately]yeah we need to go play shows there',a Underwood said.

aTamworth is a place I haven't ever been before. We know it's the country music capital so it seems natural and we know Keith Urban played a show there recently and got a really great response.a

The tour is in support of Underwood's fourth studio album Blown Away.

The American Idol winner said she approached each of the album's 14 tracks as potential chart-topping singles. …
