Vice Mayors Start Environment Drive
BUTUAN CITY - The national summit of the various vice mayors in the country ended here with a commitment to give more teeth to the environment laws, rules, and regulations that are vital in mitigating the effects of global warming and climate change.
The three-day 2012 Vice-Mayors League of the Philippines (VMLP) Summit also came up with a unified stand in pushing important legislations in their respective localities to ensure protection of the environment, while giving importance to the promotion of ecotourism.
The vice mayors were lectured by the various speakers while visiting the many tourist destinations in the Caraga Region.
The vice mayors also pledged to each and every one to have an exchange of ideas in promoting ecotourism, which is also one of the vital pillars towards attaining economic development.
The vice mayors also agreed to adapt the domestic tourism approach of the national government.
