I've always wanted to see New England in its autumn glory - can you tell me where I should visit and the best time of year to go?
A: To really take advantage of the fall colours, timing is very important. If you wish to visit the northern states of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, you should look to travel in late September/early October. If you travel later into the fall season, it's advisable to visit the southern states of Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island as the colours travel north to south. Don't forget, the most spectacular foliage is best viewed in elevated, wooded areas - the best are in the northern states, western Massachusetts and northwest Connecticut. …
