Our Peace Assembly


Where is the love? When we were at summer school we made up an amazing dance that was played along with the song 'Where is the love?' by the Black Eyed Peas. We practiced it every day in preparation for our peace assembly.

We also created a song that included some rapping. This song had a message about bullying and how we should treat each other. The song was based on the idea that the world could be a loving place if we all put a smile upon our face.

On the first day we discussed as a group how we could make a difference. We decided that this could be achieved by writing poems about peace, holding a friendship football tournament and a whole school assembly about peace. After our decisions were made we made gingerbread feet and doves to represent us stepping into peace together and as an international peace sign. (They were amazing by the way.) By Teonie Whitworth and Reuben Wilkinson Football tournament Also on Peace One Day, we had a peace football tournament at school, which wasn't just about winning. It was about the teamwork and the effort we put into it. The teams were fair and they had a mixture of younger pupils and older ones. We thought it was a great idea for everybody to have fun in a peaceful way.

Everybody enjoyed the peace football tournament and everything that took place on Peace One Day. Everybody understood why we celebrated the day.

By Dylan Taylor and Jessica Boag Peace day at the O2 Peace One Day took place on Friday 21st September 2012 at the Wembley Arena. There were performances from many talented singers including Elton John, James Morrison and even 2CELLOS!

Why do a peace concert? Awareness creates action and action will save lives. There were musical celebrations of peace to promote peace itself and harmony. This celebration was an ideal opportunity to highlight the extraordinary global peace day activities that took place.

In addition, she and her fellow nuns gathered dying people off the streets of Calcutta to care for them in a home before they died.

We have discovered that Mother Teresa was an inspirational peace leader.

We discovered Nelson Mandela was wrongly sent to prison for 21 years due to his beliefs for human rights and the actions he took in making people in South Africa have a better future.
