GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER; Pardew Warns Young Guns Pardew ' S Warning to Young Players

ALAN PARDEW has warned the Newcastle United young guns who think they have "made it" that they will be heading for the exit door unless they get their acts together - and soon.

And in a no-holds-barred interview with the Chronicle today, Pardew issued a "wake up call" to the Toon stars who he feels are endangering their United careers after a series of low-key performances.

Pardew was disappointed by United's exit in the FA Cup at Brighton this week and was prepared to hand his players a dose of reality by sending them to take on non-league outfit Bedlington Terriers to play in the Northumberland Senior Cup second round.

United will now review their development pool over the next 12 months and are likely to bring in a fresh batch of young hopefuls, as they look for stronger back-up to the first-team squad.

And in an open and honest interview, Pardew revealed: ? How some players have just 17 games to prove their worth in the remainder of the season; ? Why he wouldn't hesitate on moving on the whole development team unless there is an improvement; ? That he has increased the work load of his youngsters and handed them extra training or they might "miss the boat"; ? And he wants Adam Campbell and Remie Streete to learn from the mistakes of those in the age groups above them.

Pardew told the Chronicle: "We have had a wake-up call in terms of younger players.

"Playing three or four of them at a time will be very difficult for them - that's in their defence.

"On the negative side, they should be doing better. They need to work harder and improve their work ethic.

"It is a lesson to Adam Campbell and to Remie Streete that when you come in you have to be ready.

"Therefore the next 17 games for Ferguson, Sammy Ameobi and Tavernier is a massively important period for them.

"In the summer - trust me - I will be making changes to that if I don't see better performances from them. …
