4 Arrested, Linked to Kidnap-Slay Case
MANILA, Philippines --- Police have arrested four suspected members of a kidnap-for-ransom (KFR) group tagged behind the abduction and killing of a former nominee of a party-list group in Bicol recently.
Director General Alan Purisima, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, said the operation that led to the arrest of the suspects stemmed from a confession made by Randy Tagalogon who surrendered and allegedly confessed to police about his participation in the commission of the crime.
Tagalogon's confession resulted in the arrest of Teody Manghuyop, Roger Escropolo, Roger Mirabite and Mark Stanley Banghulot, reportedly the brains behind the abduction and killing of Jose Saribong.
"One of the kidnappers also confessed where they buried Saribong's body and this led to the solution of the case," said Purisima.
Aside from a nominee of Oragon party-list, Saribong was reportedly a former board member of Albay.
Senior Supt. Renato Gumban, director of the PNP-Anti-Kidnapping Group, said Saribong was kidnapped by the group of Banghulot on January 23 in Antipolo City and immediately demanded ransom money. …
