Stress Less to Avoid the Burnout Blues


BUSINESS can be crazy, stressful and overwhelming at the best of times, though add in running a household and man- aging a family as well, and itas not hard to see why it can be easy to get overwhelmed and reach burnout.

Late nights, early mornings, always pushing yourself to work harder, grow your business and meet deadlines; you can end up stressed out, frazzled and sometimes even lose the passion you had for your business to begin with. But it doesnat need to get to that point.

Here are six tips to help you keep your stress levels down and stop yourself from reaching burnout.

Take regular breaks a when youare extremely busy, taking a break can be the last thing on your mind. Not wanting to lose your place or momentum you can often think, aIam too busy to have a breaka.

But breaks are even more vital when youare under pressure. Even just sparing 5-10 minutes every 60-90 minutes to stretch or go for a walk, can help to clear your head, minimise your stress and leave you more refreshed to get back to work.

Break up your work a break up high-concentration work with low-concentration work and tasks that you enjoy. This simple change can often be as good as a break and give your mind the rest it needs to keep working at your peak a without hitting utter exhaustion.

For the best results, start the low-concentration work or enjoyable tasks just before or just after your break as this will give your mind more of a break.

Accept a little imperfection a if youare a perfectionist you can often add more stress to yourself and take up precious time trying to aperfecta your work. Sometimes though, you have to let go of your perfectionist ways for both your sanity and schedule. Still take pride in your work and ensure it is of high quality; it just doesnat need to be aperfecta all of the time.

Get a life a itas important to have a life outside of your work and an everyday routine. Not only will you feel better for it, you will also be more relaxed and work more effectively. …
