This issue extends the journal's mission to publishing research that describes culture-centered leadership--whether enacted or not--and how it can influence faculty's career trajectories. The focus of this issue is to explore the experiences and perceptions of tenure accruing and tenured culturally diverse faculty and seek answers to the question: What is the Role of Educational Leaders? In the first article, Zafar, Roberts, and Behar-Horenstein describe the transition of six foreign nationals as they become socialized into faculty work. In particular, they explore how differences in mentoring impacted their socialization into the Academy. The authors suggest that university leaders need to become knowledgeable about and responsive to others' cultural needs. Next, Behar-Horenstein, West-Olatunji, Moore, Houchen, and Roberts describe the post-tenure experiences of a mid-career African-American female in Counselor Education. This article describes how, in spite of the systemic disadvantages that culturally diverse faculty face as a result of racism and sexism in gaining tenure and advancement in predominately white institutions, that cross-cultural and informal monitoring helped her carve out a space to work productively and to create generate new knowledge. …
