2. Sounds of Swing, Latin and Blues

THE Buderim Foundation is a charitable organisation run by volunteers to help raise money for grants to the community. In aid of this charity, June Loxton is holding a cocktail party. Esteemed professional opera singer Suzanne Kompass, who is director of vocal arts at the University of the Sunshine Coast, will be performing, accompanied by accomplished pianist Fay Baker. Also on the program is classical pianist Dominic Gretner, jazz pianist Pete Anthon, and bassist Ken Gibson.

4. Take Every Wave: The Life of Laird Hamilton

THE premiere of Take Every Wave: The Life Of Laird Hamilton is a treat for all surf-film buffs. Not only is it a spectacular surf movie, it made the official selection at the Sundance Film Festival. Laird is a big-wave surfing legend who has been at the forefront of some of the most controversial innovations including tow-in, kitesurfing, stand-up paddle surfing and foil boarding.

FOR the second straight year, FurBall on the Beach - a charity dinner with a difference - is back, with all proceeds helping rescue animals. Guests will be asked to cough it up to help more than 1000 animals that will be given shelter and support over the next year by Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge Society (SCARS) and 4 Paws Animal Rescue. Cotton Tree Park will come alive with this charity dinner with a difference, in a large clear beachside marquee twinkling with lights. Join rescue dogs and cuddly kittens at the Maroochy RSL event. Hear from award-winning Mason Hope and his band, plus there's paw-parazzi red carpet entry, giveaways and an auction.
